Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with registration at Londorossi Gate before a short drive to the trailhead. The trek starts through the lush montane rainforest, home to a variety of birds, monkeys, and unique plant species. After a gentle hike of approximately 7 km, you will arrive at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree Camp), where you can relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the days ahead.

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp (8 km, 5–6 hours)

After breakfast, continue your ascent through the rainforest before emerging into the heath and moorland zone. Enjoy stunning views as the landscape opens up and the vegetation becomes more sparse. The trail gradually climbs across the Shira Ridge to Shira 1 Camp, where you will spend the night while taking in the spectacular scenery of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp (6 km, 3–4 hours)

Today’s trek is relatively short and gentle as you cross the scenic Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus in the world. Upon arrival at Shira 2 Camp, you will have time to rest, acclimatize, and prepare for the higher elevations ahead.

This is an important acclimatization day as you hike steadily to Lava Tower (4,630 m), where you will experience higher altitude before descending to Barranco Camp. Following the “climb high, sleep low” principle, this trek helps your body adapt to the elevation while offering spectacular views of Kilimanjaro’s alpine desert landscape. Barranco Camp is set beneath the impressive Barranco Wall, providing one of the most scenic camping locations on the mountain.

After breakfast, begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, one of the most exciting sections of the Lemosho Route. This shorter trekking day allows additional time for acclimatization and rest before the final ascent stages.

Today’s trek is a steady climb through the alpine desert to Barafu Camp, the final camp before the summit attempt. Around midnight, begin your summit push under the stars, trekking steadily to Stella Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement and enjoy breathtaking sunrise views from the Roof of Africa. After spending time at the summit, descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

After breakfast, begin your final descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate.
